INTRODUCTION

As part of the project to build the new metro line C in Toulouse, the Pack T joint venture (comprising Eiffage and NGE) has been chosen to carry out work packages 1 and 2 on the site. This major project is part of a dynamic project to modernise and improve the urban transport infrastructure of the Toulouse metropolitan area.

The C line, also known as the Toulouse Aerospace Express, is designed to link the city’s main strategic centres, particularly the city centre, the airport and fast-growing business parks.

With 21 stations and a total length of 27 kilometres, it aims to meet several objectives:

  • Ease urban traffic
  • Reducing the environmental impact of transport,
  • Supporting the economic development of Toulouse and the surrounding area by improving connectivity between strategic areas.

Work packages 1 and 2 involve boring two tunnels (8.4 km and 3.8 km) and building the stations (9 in all)

In this context, our support focused on the management of seepage water and the bentonite used in the excavation work.

OUR SUPPORT

As part of this project, we supported the joint venture “Pack T” by providing solutions designed to meet the challenges of the site.

Our work focused on two areas: water management and the preparation of bentonite slurry.

To meet the needs of the tunnelling works, we supplied three Premium 60 water treatment plants for 3 strategic sites:

  • Puit Colomiers Gare (PCG),
  • Boulevard de Suisse (BDS)
  • La Vache (LVH).

Our Premium water treatment plants are compact, turnkey technical solutions that can be used to meet a wide range of site requirements:

  • Water desanding
  • Buffer tank for optimum flocculation
  • Decantation and separation of clear water and sludge
  • Pressing of sludge to facilitate its removal
  • Additional filtration to ensure residual TSS < 35 mg/l
  • Ph Treatment

We have also equipped the 3 sites with bentonite sludge preparation units.

RESULTS

The Premium 60 water treatment plants, with a treatment capacity of up to 120 m³/h, provide complete seepage water management across the three sites. These installations ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in terms of water quality, while optimising the wastewater treatment and disposal process.

The three Bentomixs BX 20 (bentonite sludge preparation units), with a capacity of 20 m³/h each, guarantee a stable and reliable supply of sludge throughout the boring process, ensuring uninterrupted operations under optimal safety conditions.

Thanks to this equipment, the worksite is progressing efficiently while respecting deadlines and environmental requirements.
